Principal Architect
Kofi Asante
Kofi Asante is the founding principal of URBANPROJEKT, a contemporary architecture practice based in Accra, Ghana. He leads a practice dedicated to creating architecture that is contextually responsive, environmentally responsible, and human-centered.
After studying architecture at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kofi gained experience with leading firms in Accra and London before establishing URBANPROJEKT. His work has been recognized with numerous awards and has been featured in architectural publications across Africa and internationally.
His approach combines rigorous technical knowledge with a deep sensitivity to place, climate, and culture. He believes that architecture should not merely occupy a site but belong to it — responding to the specific conditions of landscape, weather, and community that give a building its meaning.

Design Philosophy
Architecture should respond to its environment while creating spaces that remain meaningful to the people who inhabit them.
Context
Every project begins with a deep understanding of its site — its topography, climate, history, and community. We believe architecture should emerge from its context, not be imposed upon it.
People
Architecture is ultimately about the people who inhabit it. We design spaces that support how people live, work, gather, and find meaning — spaces that are beautiful because they function well.
Climate
In a tropical context, design decisions about orientation, ventilation, shading, and materiality are not options — they are responsibilities. We pursue passive strategies that reduce energy consumption while enhancing comfort.
Materiality
Materials give architecture its texture, weight, and character. We work with materials that age well, that respond to touch, and that connect a building to its place.
